About Us
London
Celebrates Canada was a non-profit; non-partisan community organization
dedicated to the understanding and celebration of Canada's proud history and
richly diversified culture. This patriotic vision built momentum for the one
hundred and fiftieth anniversary of Canada's confederation by engaging the
community through educational programs, activities, events, exhibitions and
premier Canada Day celebrations that instils pride and commitment to Canada on
both an individual and community level.
Having received encouragement and standing from City of London Council on 31
August 2009, with nine founding members, then-titled Celebrate Canada (London
Committee) held its inaugural meeting 24 September 2009, renamed London
Celebrates Canada on 25 March 2010, and incorporated on 8 April 2010.
The volunteer Board of Directors included proud citizens
with skills, influence or experience essential to the success of the
organization.
Since incorporation, London Celebrates Canada held annual well-attended
free-admission municipal-level Canada Day celebrations, a concert celebrating
Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee, a multi-cultural forum and other community-input
meetings, and numerous activities designed to promote nationalism and engage
the public.
Having fulfilled its mandate, following Canada's sesquicentennial anniversary
of confederation celebration, London Celebrates Canada stood down its business
operations 31 August 2017.
